IFTTT (If This Then That) is a very interesting service which can help you link or interconnect many other services, apps or devices using triggers and actions. With IFTTT, what you can do is seems unlimited! It can be integrated with popular services like; Google, Twitter, Facebook, Telegram, Zapier and just to name a few. Applets are specific things that can happen when you connect services — things your apps can't do on their own. This is the case with the Gmail service. One could easily create an Applet which will notify he/she when a new email is received.

What is happening then?
IFTTT’s Gmail functionality previously worked by relying on the email service’s APIs. However, these came under scrutiny last year, after reports that they were allowing third-parties read users emails. Google announced in the month of October last year that it was tightening up Gmail’s policies concerning third-party services, and that it would be reviewing all third-party apps to ensure they were in compliance with the new rules. Google said that existing services would otherwise have their access revoked after March 31st 2019.
